Garden cake

So here's my work from last weekend. I did a garden themed cake for my aunty. I've always wanted to do one of these so when my uncle told me i could do whatever i like, i thought this was a great opportunity to try it out.

The magenta tubers at the front are supposed to be turnips though no one picked that up. Id like to think the carrots are a little more distinct. The dirt is made out of shaved chocolate.

Hope you like it!

Beauty and the beast theme cake

Delivered this cake yesterday. I love orders where they let me develop my own designs! They are just so much more enjoyable

I got the idea of a book from this documentary i was watching on the abc. It was called choccywoccydoodah named after a chocolate store in Britain. If you ever get a chance, watch it! Its amazing :-)

This was also a great opportunity to get back into painting! Hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed making it!

The Topsy Turvy Cake that fulfilled its namesake

Yep, that's right. My topsy turvy cake ACTUALLY went topsy turvy en route to the venue. I was devastated and I think my brother (who was driving) felt a little dumbstruck as to how to deal with the situation. In the end, we drove back, I scraped all the icing off and finished it off again in 1.5 hours (almost half the time it took me to make it in the first place). I was pretty impressed at myself for fixing it up (and now I know I CAN finish cakes quicker - I'm just a procrastinator) but I NEVER want to go through that experience again! I wish I had taken a photo of myself trying to fix it up - I must've looked a mess, tears ruining my makeup as I tried to keep icing sugar away from my dress.

All in all, it was finished and delivered just before the party started so I'm pretty happy with the result!

BIG 18th 'dance' themed cake

So these are actually from last weekend, for my cousin's BIG filipino 18th birthday. And if you are Filipino, or have been to one of these Filipino shindigs, you would know that I am NOT overstating that.

Of course, a big party needs a big cake! So here is the final product. The base is polystyrene but the rest is completely edible :)

And along with this cake order, I also made and decorated a dessert table to match. My favourites would have to be the croquembouche and the blue and white macaron tower. I've made croquembouche before but this was my first attempt at these macarons and I'm really happy with the result.

Feeling clucky?

Tis the season it seems! I predict this to be the first in a line of baby cakes for the following year...

And these are the first shoes I actually enjoyed making! Note to self: start shoes a week in advanced!!!

Black and Pink Simplicity

This order was a copy of another design. She had requested it to be exactly the same. However, I'm happy with how it turned out and I like the simple black and pink combination.

And it begins...

I'm finally getting my act together and starting this blog for my cakes! I've been doing it for just over a year now, and now that I'm on a 3-month break and holiday season is just around the corner, what better time to start?

And because my new blog is so bare, I've selected a few of my creations from the past year or so to start off with!

This first one was for my friend Magda and her (now) husband's engagement. These were my first figurines and still my favourites :)

The following are just cupcakes for various occassions.

Super Mario themes were big last year!

And so were boobs! The one on the left and the one on the right were made in collaboration with my friend Val (Love and Cake) for our mutual friends Angela and Mark, respectively.

Other fun themes I did this year were a Tardis (Dr. Who), Little Miss Sunshine and V for Vendetta...

A few girly cakes too...
